CLASSES
Classes at Vervain are for people of all abilities and backgrounds who share an interest and love of flowers. India leads all classes offering private tuition, either on a 1:1, 2:1 or small private group basis. Over the years India has taught people from the UK, US, Australia, Korea and Taiwan to name a few.
At Vervain we focus on curating a floristry day that is tailor-made to the student’s needs, whether it is perfecting a skill they already have or trying something completely new. India will help each person challenge themselves with the use of texture, colour and form, allowing them to express their personality through their work.
FLOWERS
At Vervain we grow the majority of what we use, this means each student always has an exciting and wide selection of flowers to choose from between April and October. The flowers are picked just before the class begins and enables the freshest of flowers for each student, which makes a big impact on the work created and encourages them to own the work they create and establish a sense of provenance in the material used to make an arrangement.
WORKSHOP STRUCTURE
Each student can be taught up to three floral pieces of their choice per day, based on the skills they are looking to learn or improve on. This can include work such as a large-scale urn and a bridal bouquet to a full tablescape with multiple centrepieces and styling details.
Classes typically run from 11 am - 4 pm on the student’s preferred date, subject to availability,
STYLE
The studio creates floristry that evokes a wilder form, celebrating the natural fleeting beauty of flowers and foliage we grow. The studio’s style of floristry is focused towards the wild and unrestrained, embracing the natural forms of the flowers and foliage we use.
LOCATION
Every class is held at the studio in a timber framed barn creating a stunning backdrop to the student’s work.
The studio is located in Worcestershire in the Midlands of the UK. Regular train services connect to nearby towns and cities. We can help arrange transport to and from the station and can recommend accommodation locally if required.
ENVIRONMENT
At Vervain we are conscious of the impact of our work on the environment and always make sure we reduce this impact in everything we do. This is achieved by making every effort to source flowers from the studio, and when necessary from other local growers who share our commitment to the environment.
All students’ work is arranged in water using chicken wire or flower frogs, never in floral foam, from a small vase to a large installation and after each class all the green waste is composted to help grow the flowers for future seasons.
